Torrefied Wheat

An unmalted adjunct that has a high protein content which helps stabilise beer foam and add body to the beer.

Torrefied Wheat provides greater head formation and retention than standard wheat malt, its flavour and aroma are mild with a nutty, bread-like character.

The starches in Torrefied Wheat are gelatinized, making them available for conversion to simpler sugars without the need for special treatment or mash adjustments.


  • Colour EBC: 2.5 - 4.5
  • Tasting: Slight Grain, Bread-like character
  • Usage: Up to 10% or up to 40% for wheat beers
  • Beer Styles: All Styles, British Ales, Witbiers, Belgian Wheat Beers

Wheat malts are high in protein, which helps produce fuller-bodied beers.

It can be used as a base malt for all wheat beers or used in smaller quantities to obtain a ‘bread’ touch.

Subject to current stock levels, malt is available in bags of 500g and 3 kg.
