Roy Ekins has been a keen wine and beer maker since 1962, and has entered at shows all over the country.

Although no longer judging he was for many years an active member of the National Guild of Wine and Beer Judges, and he is a past editor of the National Association's magazine.

He has taught at evening classes and lectured about commercial and homemade wines and beers for many years.

The first section of this book is an introduction to the basic principles of winemaking, followed by a short section on beermaking.

The major part of this book is a season by season guide to ingredients and recipes for making wines and beers throughout the year.
