Shop food-grade fermentation buckets and fermenters for making beer, wine, cider and mead at home. Choose from small-batch buckets, 25-litre and larger vessels, plus compatible lids, taps and spares. Check each product description for the supplied fittings and recommended working volume.
Choosing a fermenting bucket
Match the vessel to your recipe's batch size and leave room above the liquid for foam and fruit. A bucket's stated capacity is not automatically its recommended fermentation volume. Smaller buckets suit trial batches, while larger vessels offer more headspace for a vigorous primary fermentation.
- Small batches: compare our 10-litre fermentation bucket with lid with your recipe's required working volume.
- Standard kit batches: the 25L bucket with grommet lid and tap is listed for batches up to 23 litres. Allow more headspace where your recipe requires it.
- Extra headspace: the Young's 33L bucket with grommet lid gives a 23-litre batch more room for foaming.
- Larger brews: compare the working capacities and fittings of the larger buckets and fermenters before ordering.
Lids, airlocks and taps
A grommet lid accepts a compatible airlock; check whether the airlock is included or sold separately. A solid lid has no airlock opening. For active fermentation, follow the vessel's instructions and provide a suitable route for carbon dioxide to escape. Standard brewing buckets are not pressure fermenters.
A tap can make sampling, racking and bottling easier. A bucket without a tap can be used with a syphon. Replacement lids and taps are not universally interchangeable: check the brand, diameter and fitting before buying.
Keep your equipment ready for the next brew
Use suitable cleaning and sanitising products, following their instructions and the vessel's temperature limits. For help choosing between vessel types, read our demijohn vs fermentation bucket guide.
