El Dorado Hop Pellets 100g – USA

A dual-purpose American hop variety known for both robust bittering and intense aromatic character. Initially released around 2010, El Dorado combines high alpha acidity with a vivid fruit-forward aroma profile — pineapple, watermelon, pear, stone fruit, and tropical candy.

El Dorado performs well as early kettle bitterness and shines in late additions, whirlpool, and dry hop roles. Favoured in hoppy ales where you want vivid tropical fruit and smooth bitterness rather than harsh edge.

Flavour & Usage

When used early in the boil, El Dorado contributes firm bitterness without harsh sharpness. Most brewers focus on its aroma impact — late additions or dry hops release vivid tropical notes like pineapple, melon, and candy-sweet stone fruit. Its high oil content gives strong aroma without excessive vegetal character, making it especially effective in whirlpool or dry-hop doses.

Recommended Beer Styles

  • IPA (American / West Coast / NEIPA): Bold tropical fruit hop front
  • Pale Ale: Adds liveliness and fruit complexity
  • Blonde Ale / Cream Ale: Let El Dorado shine on a light malt base
  • Lager / California Common: Effective when you want fruit-forward hop in a clean lager body
  • Fruit Beer / Wheat Beer: Works well with light malt and lots of late hop aroma

Substitutes

  • Hüll Melon: Similar melon and tropical fruit notes
  • Ekuanot®: Strong tropical/candy character, high oil content
  • Galena: More bitterness-focused with less aroma

Brewer's Tip

For maximum aroma, add El Dorado at 5–10 minutes before flame-out or dry hop at 3–5g/L in IPA or NEIPA. In pale beers, try 50–70% of the hop bill in El Dorado to emphasise its pineapple and stone fruit signature. Its high alpha means small doses pack punch — monitor IBUs carefully when using for bitterness. Pair with a clean malt base so the hop character remains the star.
