Riddles Flaming Hot Essence
Riddles Flaming Hot Essence is a concentrated ginger extract used to make traditional-style ginger wine, cordials, or spice-forward beverages.
This 125ml bottle is designed to be added to a sugar-water base to make up to 3 litres of ginger wine. Expect bold ginger character with lingering heat.
It’s commonly used by homebrewers and winemakers looking to recreate old-school ginger wine with a strong spicy kick.

How to Use
To make ginger wine or cordial:
- Dissolve 1?kg of sugar in ~2.3?L of boiling water.
- Turn off heat and stir in 1 bottle (125ml) of Flaming Hot Essence.
- Allow to cool. Bottle or ferment as needed.
For flavouring beer or spirits, add post-fermentation in small amounts to taste — the essence is strong and concentrated.
What’s the Difference?
Flaming Hot is the spicier version of Riddles’ ginger essence line — designed for a bold, warming heat rather than a mellow ginger finish.
Also available in a milder “Smooth” version (sold separately) for those who prefer a less intense spice.
Brewer’s Tip
When adding to beer or spirits, always trial a small batch — a little goes a long way.
For winter warmers, use alongside darker malts or golden syrup for complexity.
If fermenting with yeast, add the essence post-fermentation to preserve full flavour intensity.
