Using it as a hydrometer trial jar

Fill the cylinder with enough sample for the hydrometer to float freely without touching the base or sides. Remove any bubbles clinging to the hydrometer, read the liquid level at eye height and apply the hydrometer’s temperature correction where required. Do not return a tested sample to the fermenter unless your equipment and technique have been properly sanitised.

Measuring liquids

The 2ml graduations make this cylinder useful for measuring and transferring small liquid volumes. Stand it on a flat, stable surface and read the graduation at eye level. It is suitable for routine home-brewing measurements but is not supplied as certified laboratory volumetric glassware.

Cleaning and glass safety

Clean and rinse before first use and after every sample. Avoid sudden temperature changes, impacts and abrasive cleaning. Inspect the glass before use and stop using it if it becomes chipped or cracked.
