Shop fruit presses for extracting juice from apples, pears and other suitable fruit at home. Whether you're preparing fresh apple juice, cider, perry or fruit wine, compare compact 4.5 litre presses with larger 12 litre fruit presses and a press-and-crusher package. These are presses for extracting juice; for standalone apple crushers and press bags, browse our cider pressing and crushing equipment.

Which Fruit Press Should I Choose?

  • 4.5 litre worktop fruit press: a compact choice for smaller quantities of prepared fruit and occasional pressing.
  • 12 litre hobby fruit press: a larger-capacity option for pressing prepared apple, pear or other suitable fruit pulp.
  • 12 litre cross-beam fruit press: a traditional press option for home cider and juice making.
  • Press and crusher package: a combined option if you also need to prepare firm apples before pressing.

These capacities describe the press basket, not a guaranteed juice yield. The amount of juice extracted depends on the type, ripeness and preparation of the fruit.

Using a Fruit Press for Cider Making

Wash and sort the fruit, removing damaged or spoiled pieces. Firm fruit such as apples and pears generally needs to be crushed or pulped before pressing. Put the prepared pulp into the press using a compatible press bag where recommended, then press steadily in accordance with the equipment instructions. Collect the juice in a clean, food-safe vessel and clean the press thoroughly afterwards.

If you need a separate crusher, Pulpmaster or press bag, see our fruit crushers and cider-making equipment. Once you've collected your juice, browse fermenting buckets and cider-making supplies, or read our cider-making guide.

Fruit Press FAQs

Can a fruit press be used for apples and grapes?

Many fruit presses can be used for properly prepared apples, pears and grapes, but check the individual product's intended uses and instructions. Firmer fruit generally needs crushing first.

Do I need a fruit crusher as well?

For whole apples and pears, usually yes. Crushing breaks down firm fruit before pressing and makes juice extraction more effective. A press-and-crusher combination may be suitable if you need both.

Does a 12 litre press produce 12 litres of juice?

No. The stated capacity refers to the volume of fruit or pulp the basket can hold, not the amount of juice you'll get. Yield varies by fruit and pressing method.

Do I need a pressing bag?

That depends on the press and the fruit. Check the manufacturer's guidance, and use a compatible bag where recommended to contain pulp and help with cleaning.
