Carahell® Malt – Weyermann
A light caramel malt from Weyermann in Bamberg, produced in a similar way to Carapils but kilned slightly hotter to develop gentle caramel sweetness alongside its body and foam benefits. Carahell adds a soft malt fullness, excellent head formation and retention, and a subtle caramel-malty character — without contributing significant colour or sweetness to the finished beer.
Particularly well suited to German festival beers and low-alcohol lagers where mouthfeel and foam stability are priorities. Use at 10–15% in standard recipes, or up to 30% in speciality beers where extra body is needed.

- Best for: Helles, Märzen, Festbier, Low-Alcohol Lager, Wheat Beer
- Substitutes: Weyermann Carapils (less colour, more neutral), Crisp Cara Gold (similar EBC, slightly more honey character)
Brewer's notes
Carahell is the go-to malt for improving mouthfeel and foam in pale lagers without darkening the beer or adding heavy caramel flavour. An excellent addition to any recipe where body and head retention need a boost.
