Crystal 240 Malt (Medium Crystal) — Crisp Maltings
A traditional British medium crystal malt from Crisp Maltings, produced by carefully roasting two-row spring barley to achieve a rich caramel profile. Crystal 240 develops a deep amber to copper hue and brings classic toffee sweetness with dried fruit notes — building body, improving mouthfeel, and enhancing foam without stepping into dark roast territory.
Use at 5–15% to add colour, flavour complexity, and mid-range malt sweetness. Around 10% is the sweet spot for deepening malt flavour without overshadowing hops.

- Format: Whole (uncrushed) — requires milling before mashing
Brewer’s Notes
Crystal 240 contributes rounded caramel sweetness with hints of toffee and soft raisin. An easy way to avoid thinness in IPAs and bitters, adding inviting amber-copper colour and a touch of dried fruit complexity without stepping into dark crystal territory.
