Mangrove Jack's CR51 - Light & Fruity Red Wine Yeast
Mangrove Jack's CR51 red wine yeast for light, fresh and fruity reds. Ferments at 16–24°C with up to 14% alcohol tolerance.
Mangrove Jack's CR51 Red Wine Yeast
Mangrove Jack's CR51 is selected for light, fresh and fruit-forward red wines with a soft, approachable finish.
It supports red-berry character without pushing the wine towards the heavier structure associated with more robust red strains.
Yeast Details
- Fermentation Temperature: 16–24°C
- Alcohol Tolerance: Up to 14% ABV
- Character: Fresh red fruit with a soft finish
- Good For: Light red wines and fruity country wines
How to Use
Sprinkle directly onto the prepared must and ferment within the recommended range. Use suitable yeast nutrient when the must is nutrient-poor.
Substitute Yeasts
Gervin GV11 is a good alternative for fruity red and fruit wines. Mangrove Jack's VR21 is better when you want more structure and a fuller red-wine profile.
Winemaker's Tip
Use CR51 for lighter reds where fresh fruit is the priority. For heavier berry wines or structured grape reds, VR21 or R56 will usually suit better.
