Still Spirits Classic 8 is one of the best all-rounder Turbo Yeasts available, giving reliable results and consistent quality.

This turbo yeast is capable of fermenting 14.5% at 30°C in as little as 48 hours.

  • Requires 6 kg of sugar, or 8 kg of dextrose for approx 4.5% ABV in 48 hours.
  • Requires 8 kg of sugar or 10 kg of dextrose for approximately 20% ABV in five days.

Instructions

  • Clean and sanitise all equipment before use.
  • Prepare water, and volume (see chart) at the correct water start temperature (see chart).
  • Adjust the temperature if necessary with hot or cold water.
  • Now add sugar and stir until completely dissolved before adding turbo yeast and turbo carbon.

Important

When using this 48 Turbo yeast to make real commercial-quality spirits both Turbo Carbon and Turbo Clear must be used.

  • Turbo Carbon contains fermentation absorbents such as activated carbons that absorb impurities during fermentation.
  • Turbo Clear must be added after fermentation and the wash racked before distillation.
  • Otherwise, impurities first trapped by the absorbents will be released back into the alcohol during the boil.
