How to Use

To use the Alcotec 5L Spirit Base Kit, follow these detailed steps:

1. Clean and sterilize all equipment before use with a proper homebrew cleaner/sterilizer.
2. Dissolve 1.63 kg of brewing sugar (dextrose) in 1 litre of warm water using a clean jug.
3. Pour the sugar solution into your fermenter and add cold water until the fermenter is half full.
4. Add the nutrient and bentonite, then shake well.
5. Top up your fermenter with cold water to the 5-liter mark and sprinkle on the yeast.
6. Fit an airlock and ferment at 18-23ºC until no more bubbles pass through the airlock (about 3 weeks).
7. Check that fermentation is over (hydrometer reading below 998 and no airlock activity).
8. Transfer the liquid to a clean bucket, leaving sediment behind.
9. Add the stabilizer and activated carbon, stir to remove CO2, and return the liquid to the cleaned fermenter.
10. Leave for 24 hours.
11. Add one sachet of Finings A, mix gently, and leave for 1 hour.
12. Add sachet B, mix gently, and immediately add the second sachet of Finings A.
13. Leave until clear (about 3 days).
14. Siphon the clear liquid into a clean demijohn.

Your base spirit is now ready for mixing with essences to create various drinks.
